FOOD TECHNOLOGIST

Position:  Food Technologist

Reporting to:   Technical Manager

Location:  Cape Town, Western Cape

 

An exciting opportunity has become available for a food technologist looking for experience in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment. The ideal candidate will be a driven and self-motivated individual with a passion for product and achieving excellence.

 

The purpose of the role is to provide technical support to our Sales Representatives and Warehousing. In the position, you will need to liaise with suppliers, customers and government officials and maintain all relevant documentation to prove due diligence. The role will further involve conducting trend analyses and assisting with food technology improvements.

 

Key Job Functions

  • Set up and maintain a data base of current supplier assurance information.
  • Set and maintain a data base of product specifications.
  • Conduct shelf life studies on raw materials.
  • Conduct desk top risk assessment of potential new suppliers.
  • Ensure all products imported for Rialto Foods meet statutory, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • To understand food law to ensure product and packaging comply with legal requirements.
  • To remain constantly up to date with the technical changes in the manufacturing industry.
  • Handle all technical queries on a day to day basis.
  • Log and investigate customer complaints and respond.
  • Monitor customer complaints and take appropriate action to avoid further complaints.
  • To use knowledge of food safety to ensure safely manufactured products to required standards.
  • Good working relationship with suppliers.
  • Managing and trending of non-conformances raised.
  • Perform other technical duties as required by the business.

 

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years Industry experience
  • Technical Food science degree qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience (B Tech)
  • Knowledge of technical processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of food safety and packaging legal requirements
  • Knowledge of the technical role in the product development process
  • Knowledge of the technical requirements of food manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control systems and processes
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Knowledge of category management in a matrix structure
  • Knowledge of technical food safety auditing desirable

WAREHOUSE MANAGER

Position: Warehouse Manager

Reporting to: Factory Manager

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape

 

An exciting opportunity has become available in our production warehouse. The ideal candidate will be driven and self-motivated with a passion for productivity and achieving success.

The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Factory Manager. In this position you will need to liaise with suppliers, customers and staff.


Key Job Functions

• Manage warehouse in accordance with the companies policies and procedures
• Oversee receiving, warehousing and maintenance operations
• Actively track orders with suppliers and ensure concerned parties are kept updated
• Manage stock control and reconcile with stock system
• Resource utilization and maintenance of warehouse infrastructure and equipment
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and transport companies as required
• Work with team to plan and assign appropriate tasks
• Produce reports and statistics regularly (Consolidated stock report, movement reports)
• Manage and resolve all stock queries
• Identify storage space allocation and ensure goods are stored appropriately

 

Knowledge and Experience Required

• Valid matric certificate
• Relevant Degree/Diploma would be advantageous
• 5 – 10 years’ experience working within a FMCG or wholesale and retail environment
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements in an FMCG or wholesale and retail environment
• People leadership and management including planning, organizing, control, staffing

PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Position:               Production Supervisor

Reporting to:       Factory Manager

Location:              Cape Town, Western Cape

 

An exciting opportunity has become available in our production warehouse. The ideal candidate will be driven and self-motivated with a passion for productivity and achieving success.

 

The purpose of this role is to provide support to the factory manager. In this position you would be required to efficiently lead and supervise the Rialto High Risk production which entails, resource utilization and maintenance and effective stock control.

 

Key Job Functions

  • Raising stores requisition for High risk packaging and consumables
  • Raising service requests
  • Order-follow ups with Production Manager on consumable requirements with 3 days cover
  • Stock Control: ensuring rework stock is stored at designated places, and maintain good housekeeping
  • Stock take variance investigation, inventory movement reconciliation for packing and consumable’s
  • Production: hourly scheduling of daily production plans, implementation of weekly plans, reporting and troubleshooting challenges that arise
  • Reports: real time tracking production actual performance and staff register on the OEE dashboard and Factory Decision Support (FDS) Dashboard Ensure good time keeping of staff.
  • People leadership and supervision including planning, organizing, control, staffing
  • Raising service requests with Production Manager and/or service providers
  • Enforce adherence to quality standards (HACCP, IBL and Rialto Internal Standards)

 

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Valid matric certificate
  • Production supervision and control
  • Machine operation
  • People leadership and supervision, including communication
  • Health and safety
  • Good Manufacturing Practices in Food Production.
  • MS office
  • Information systems (Syspro, WMS, iComply, OEE)
  • Woolworths procedures and requirements
  • Working knowledge of HACCP/ISO FS systems
